Free gardening tools
Two calculators built on real plant data — 193 plants, each with its own measured water requirement, container sizes and temperature limits. No sign-up, nothing stored.
Why these two, and not another soil calculator
There is no shortage of gardening calculators that work out how many bags of compost fill a raised bed. They are useful, but anyone can build one — the maths is the volume of a box.
These two need something harder to come by: measured, per-plant biological data. Knowing that bitter gourd wants 1,000 ml per 10 litres of soil daily while rosemary wants a fraction of that every few days, or that tomato flowers abort above 35 °C while okra keeps setting fruit at 40 °C, means holding real figures for every plant separately. That is what the database behind these tools holds, and it is what the GrowSabz app runs on.
What the tools can and cannot tell you
Both tools give you a calibrated starting point — a number derived from the plant's actual requirements and your actual conditions, rather than a rule of thumb that was written for somebody else's garden. That is a large improvement on "water regularly" and "plant after the last frost".
Neither can see your soil mix, your wind exposure, or how big the plant has grown. A mature fruiting tomato drinks far more than the seedling that was in that pot six weeks ago. Treat the figure as the place to start, then check the soil with a finger before you pour.
Common questions
Are these gardening tools really free?
Yes — both tools are free, work without an account, and store nothing. They run entirely in your browser, so the numbers you type never reach a server.
How many plants do the tools cover?
All 193 plants in the GrowSabz database — vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers — each with its own measured watering requirement, container sizes and temperature limits.
Do I need the app to use them?
No. The tools are complete on their own. The app adds the part a web page cannot do: it remembers your plants and turns these numbers into a dated schedule that notifies you.
